FEU-0511 es un convertidor de medios ópticos Fast Ethernet adaptativo de 10/100 Mbps, con 4 puertos integrados de conmutación auto adaptativa de 10M/100Mbps, que convierte la señal eléctrica de par trenzado independiente 10Base-T o 100Base-TX con señal óptica 100Base-FX. Extiende el rango de transmisión de la red desde 100 m, el límite de la línea de cobre, hasta 120 km (modo único full dúplex). Admite dos tipos diferentes de medios de conexión de red, 10/100Base-TX y 100Base-FX. Mediante la técnica de conmutación y la técnica de almacenamiento y reenvío, realiza la transmisión de datos entre dos medios de conexión de red. Admite la transmisión óptica en modo multimodo de doble fibra, modo único de doble fibra y modo único de fibra única.
